How do I change a topic from Discussion to Guide after publish?

I wrote a long how-to as a Discussion by mistake. Admin edit shows the template picker.

Will the slug prefix 301 if I switch types, or do I need to recreate the post? I do not want to lose the replies.

Here is the approach that worked on our tenant:

  1. Confirm topic_type stored is the canonical id (question, not support).
  2. Purge topic:detail:v4:{slug} in Valkey if the HTML looks stale.
  3. Recheck JSON-LD for acceptedAnswer after a hard reload.

That unblocked How do I change a topic from Discussion to Guide after publish? for us. If it still 403s, look at assert_can_post.

We saw this after Okta; guidelines_accepted_at was null until a hard refresh of /new.
